Swimming

How can swimming help you?

After having breast cancer surgery you may have built up mental and emotional barriers thinking that you cannot take part in exercise.  Being active can have positive benefits for your physical, psychological and social well being.

What is it that makes swimming such an excellent way to get fit and stay active?

Reasons to take the plunge and swim are:-

  •     It increases mobility
  •     It takes the strain off your joints
  •     Gives you a chance to meet new people and socialise with others who have had similar experiences
  •     It improves circulation
  •     It tones every major muscle
  •     It strengthens your heart
  •     Its fun

These swimming sessions are for women who have had breast cancer surgery, with qualified female leisure staff running the session.  It is hoped that this will increase women’s self-confidence with all aspects of their swimming experience from the changing room to the pool.

Where do the sessions take place?
